Research Interests
Historical Archaeology, Urban Archaeology, Rural and Farmstead Archaeology, Class, Ethnicity, Native American and Euro-American: town planning, sacred sites, cultural landscapes, and historic preservation.
 
Research Experience
City Archaeologist, NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission (1980-1990); Director of the following projects in NYS: Troy Worker Housing (1978-1980), Inlet Valley (1993-1996); Indian Fort Road (1996-1997); Enfield Falls (1998-present).
 
Selected Recent Publications
Guest Co-Editor for four thematic volumes of three refereed journals, International Journal for Historical Archaeology (2 issues in 2001), and Northeast Historical Archaeology (2002), and Historical Archaeology (2009). Four entries in the Encyclopedia of Historical Archaeology, Routledge Press (2002). Lead author for over 30 government monographs/site reports and author of 36 journal articles and book chapters.
